LAD #16-Emancipation Proclamation
Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation essentially freed all the slaves the Confederate States, angering the South from the point of secession. It also officially made slavery the cause for war and showed that Lincoln backed the anti-slavery movement completely. The proclamation was a huge step in the Civil War. It brought in slavery as the main issue and just angered the South more. The North was gaining more support from the government after this, and the South's chances for victory were steadily getting worse. Lincoln was officially backing the North with more supplies, money and naval and army support which were far superior to those of the South. The South couldn't match the North's technology, resources, size or capital and the Emancipation was the cultimating factor that showed the South had no chance and that the North would come down and free all their slaves.
