LAD #15-The Second Inauguaral Address of President Abraham Lincoln
This speech was not an optimistic nor forgiving speech. It was coming toward the defeat of the South by the North and the North was looking for punishment for the South for rebellion. Slavery was about to be abolished everywhere in America and there was no sense of nationalist union feelings amongst the nation. Lincoln was in no means bragging about the immeint win that the North was about to gain but he did focus on how the evils of slavery were ending. He describes about how he anticipated that the issue of slavery would lead the United States to war, but he never expected it to drag out this long and become this much of a turning point in American history as it becomes. Lincoln believes that the just side one because they were fighting for the right reason and to help save the blacks from the terrible fate of slavery.
